What is an Orphan disease and why should I care?
An orphan disease is a rare disease affecting less than .05% of the population, typically genetic in origin and either life-threatening or chronically debilitating. Because of their rarity, orphan diseases are often overlooked for funding and public support. HOW CAN I HELP? We are currently working with organizations dedicated to finding cures for a variety of orphan diseases, including Chordoma, Progeria, and Rett Syndrome. Everytime you donate or buy a game, you help provide funding for research on these overlooked diseases. Where can I learn more? To learn more about these diseases and the groups seeking to cure them, visit their websites: Rare Disease Day www.rarediseaseday.org NORD www.rarediseases.org |
